An underwater earthquake generates a tsunami that strikes Malibu and brings a hunting pack of prehistoric-looking goblin sharks to the surface. Although the beach is evacuated before the big wave strikes, a group of lifeguards (Peta Wilson plays bodyguard Heather) and a crew of construction workers are stranded in the high water and have to fight the sharks to get to dry land.
According to the press, filming “Malibu Shark Attack” was finished last spring in Australia. The previous name of the movie was “Goblin Shark Attack” in honor of dangerous goblin sharks with characteristic appearance that have electric fields on their bodies and sensitive cells through cuneate snout which can identify even very weak electric fields produced by moves of potential victims. But obviously the creators of the thriller decided not to complicate the movie with these details and return to the original version “Malibu Shark Attack”.
